THE LANDMARK CLASSIC FERRARIS
Ferrari F40
Built from 1987 to 1992, the F40 was the first production car to exceed 200 mph and the last Ferrari personally signed off by Enzo Ferrari. Stripped out, twin turbocharged and brutally fast, it remains the definitive 1980s supercar and one that has seen values rise considerably in the last 12 x months. Available in LHD form only.
Engine: 2.9 litre twin turbocharged V8
Power: 471 bhp (478 PS) at 7,000 rpm
Torque: 426 lb ft (577 Nm)
0 to 62 mph: around 4.1 seconds
Top speed: 201 mph (324 km/h)
Gearbox: 5 speed manual
Production: 1,311 built
The most collectible F40s are the earliest examples, known to enthusiasts as non catalyst, non adjustable cars. Built without catalytic converters and with fixed, non adjustable suspension, they are the lightest and purest version of the F40 and the closest to its original competition intent. Later cars were fitted with catalytic converters and offered adjustable suspension, so the early non catalyst, non adjustable F40s generally command the strongest collector values. However, buying a F40 with a catalytic converter and a fixed suspension is becoming more the norm and acceptable with buyers now and prices are also rising on these versions.
Ferrari F50
Produced from 1995 to 1997, the F50 put a Formula One derived V12 into a road car, bolted directly to the carbon chassis. With a removable hard top and no turbochargers, it is the purest of the analogue Ferrari halo cars and the rarest of this group.
More than any other road Ferrari, the F50 is defined by its brilliant and much revered engine. The 4.7 litre naturally aspirated V12 is derived directly from Ferrari’s Formula One programme and revs to 8,500 rpm, and it is bolted straight to the carbon fibre tub as a fully stressed member, exactly as a Grand Prix car is built. There is little separating the driver from the drivetrain, which is why many collectors regard the F50 as the most authentic Formula One experience ever sold for the road.
Just 349 were built between 1995 and 1997, a figure Ferrari set deliberately below demand, and only around 55 were delivered new to the United States. Almost every car left the factory in Rosso Corsa, so the rare examples in other colours are especially sought after. With its removable hard top, which turns the closed berlinetta into an open barchetta, and its deliberately minimal electronic driver aids, the F50 was long the quiet achiever of Ferrari’s halo cars, and values have risen sharply as collectors have recognised it as the purest and most analogue of the group.
Engine: 4.7 litre naturally aspirated V12, derived from Ferrari's F1 programme
Power: 513 bhp (520 PS) at 8,500 rpm
Torque: 347 lb ft (471 Nm)
0 to 60 mph: around 3.7 seconds
Top speed: 202 mph (325 km/h)
Gearbox: 6 speed manual
Production: 349 built
Ferrari Enzo
Built from 2002 to 2004 and named after the founder, the Enzo brought Formula One technology to the road with a carbon fibre tub, carbon ceramic brakes and an F1 style paddle shift gearbox. The F50 is the rarest of Ferrari’s landmark halo cars, with just 349 built. Ferrari deliberately capped production at 349, one fewer than the 350 it believed it could sell, to guarantee exclusivity and protect values, and the final car left Maranello in July 1997. Only around 55 were originally allocated to the United States. Almost every F50 was finished in Rosso Corsa, so the very few cars in other colours are especially prized such as Giallo Modena Yellow, with only four painted in silver. Built around a carbon fibre tub with its Formula One derived V12 bolted directly to the chassis and a removable hard top, the F50 is widely regarded as the purest and most analogue of the modern Ferrari hypercars.
It set the template for every Ferrari hypercar that followed.
Engine: 6.0 litre naturally aspirated V12
Power: 651 bhp (660 PS) at 7,800 rpm
Torque: 485 lb ft (657 Nm)
0 to 62 mph: around 3.65 seconds
Top speed: 218 mph (350 km/h)
Gearbox: 6 speed F1 automated manual
Production: 399 built, plus one final car built for charity
LaFerrari
Produced from 2013 to 2016, LaFerrari was Ferrari's first hybrid hypercar, pairing a naturally aspirated V12 with an F1 derived electric motor through the HY-KERS system. It is the most powerful road going Ferrari of its era and the flagship of the modern collector market, offered as a coupe and as the open LaFerrari Aperta.
Invitation only - Every LaFerrari was presold before production even began. Ferrari chose the buyers, and these were overwhelmingly established clients who already owned a significant Ferrari collection.
Production: 499 coupes (2013 to 2016), then 210 LaFerrari Aperta.
Aperta allocation split: of the 210, 200 went to clients, 9 were retained by Ferrari for its 70th anniversary celebrations, and the final car was auctioned for charity.
It’s the flagship of Ferrari’s halo lineage (288 GTO → F40 → F50 → Enzo → LaFerrari), the first hybrid Ferrari, and the most powerful road going Ferrari of its era.
Engine: 6.3 litre naturally aspirated V12 with HY-KERS hybrid system
Power: 950 bhp (963 PS) combined
Torque: over 663 lb ft (900 Nm) combined
0 to 62 mph: under 3 seconds
Top speed: over 217 mph (350 km/h)
Gearbox: 7 speed dual clutch
Production: 499 coupes, plus 210 LaFerrari Aperta

What is Ferrari Classiche certification ?
Ferrari Classiche is Ferrari’s official certification programme, run from Maranello, that authenticates the originality of a classic Ferrari. It is open to road cars at least twenty years old and to all competition Ferraris. Ferrari inspects the car against its original factory build records and confirms that the major components, including the chassis, engine, gearbox and bodywork, are original or correct to how the car left the factory. A car that passes receives the Certificate of Authenticity, known as the Red Book, and is entered into Ferrari’s official register. For collectors it is one of the strongest forms of provenance, confirming the car is genuine and matching and helping to protect its value.
Can I have the car independently inspected before I buy?
Yes. For collector cars we recommend an independent inspection, and we can arrange a specialist pre purchase inspection before export for complete peace of mind.
Do you supply classic Ferraris in RHD (right hand drive) and LHD (left hand drive)?
Yes. We source both right hand drive cars, typically from the UK and some parts of Asia, with left hand drive cars from mainland Europe and North America and we export worldwide in the correct drive configuration for your country.
How do you ship or air freight a high value classic Ferrari?
We ship collector Ferraris by fully insured, enclosed transport, using established global shipping lines and dedicated handling. We provide the Bill of Lading and export documentation and manage the process up to the destination port. All inland transport is by covered, insured transporter, never driven.
How do I pay, and is it secure?
Given the values involved, we take care to make the process clear and secure at every stage, with Escrow services available where required. We can also accept cryptocurrency via the BitPay platform on request.
