How To Import a LHD vehicle to the UK: 


Our Comprehensive Process

  1. Enquiry: Submit an enquiry on our website with the vehicle you're looking for and your contact details. An Import Marques consultant will contact you by email or WhatsApp to discuss your requirements.
  2. Sourcing or Preparation: We will present a few stock and new build options from our network of European suppliers. A new build order means you can specify the desired colour and optional extras required. Alternatively, if you already own the vehicle, we will begin the logistics planning immediately.
  3. Shipping & Transport: Once we find your car, we arrange collection from mainland Europe and transport to the UK by truck. The car travels on a truckbed, where we will then start the UK IVA/NOVA/UK registration process for you. You also have the option to arrange your own shipping. In these cases, we will take over upon arrival to handle offloading, transport to the test centre, and full UK registration
  4. UK Modifications: We handle all required changes: headlight beam pattern adjustments, right-hand side rear fog light fitting, and speedometer conversion  (KPH to MPH).
  5. Testing and Compliance: We schedule the MOT/IVA test to ensure the car meets UK safety and emissions standards. 
  6. Registration: We register your car with the DVLA and order your V5 logbook and number plates. 
  7. Delivery: Once your plates are fitted, your LHD car is ready for UK roads. You can collect it from our facility or arrange delivery anywhere in the UK.

Collection & Transport

We arrange vehicle collection from across the EU. Depending on the vehicle's location and your specific requirements, transport may be via enclosed or open trailers, and can be single or multi-car transport.


UK Modifications

Every imported vehicle needs modifications to meet UK standards. What's required depends on the car's age and where it's coming from:

  • Headlights: Beam patterns adjusted for driving on the left
  • Rear fog lights: UK law requires these on the right-hand side
  • Speedometer: Converted from kph to mph (either fascia replacement or recalibration)

Testing & Registration

  • Testing: We manage the MOT or the IVA (Independent Vehicle Approval) for cars that do not meet standard UK specifications.
  • DVLA Registration: We handle all paperwork and NOVA notifications. Once approved, we fit DVLA-standard number plates before you take delivery.
